Benefits of Infrared Sauna

We have heard an awful lot said about the Benefits of Infrared Saunas recently and how they compare to “normal” heat saunas.Indeed, many think that the days of traditional heat (coals) based saunas are very definitely numbered, particularly for home based saunas. Infrared Saunas seem to be the future and the reason for that is their enhanced ability to help many wide and varied health “problems”.

Health Benefits of Infrared Saunas

So, accepting old heat based saunas are “on the way out”, why is this? Well it’s simply that infrared saunas work on infrared rays to generate heat as opposed to “pure” heat from a heat source such as coals. So, why is this important? What this means is that the rays of infrared heat can actually penetrate deep into your skin and because of that, the heat gets into your muscles and soft tissue.
Becuase the heat gets directly into these areas, rather than just heating up the outer layers of your skins it has two effects.

Firstly the sauna doesn’t need to be as hot to make you sweat out toxins. And secondly, the heat has a direct therapeutic effect on the muscles and soft tissues hence giving you a whole host of health benefits.

Pain Reduction With Infrared Saunas

Certainly as the health profession become more aware, Infrared heat therapy is becoming more commonly prescribed for a whole range of conditions includingchronic pain, arthritis, back pain, neck pain, and muscle spasms.

There is mounting clinical evidence to support heat therapy as beneficial to such conditions and that is because of infrared heats unique ability to penetrate the skin and get deeply and directly into your tissue,

It should also be noted that cold therapy can be just as effective in such circumstances as well.

Weight Loss Benefits

It has to be said this is a somewhat thorny issue. Certainly it is common to lose up to four punds during an infrared sauna session. It is fair to say that this is equally possible in a normal sauna. It is also fair to suggest that the weight loss may well be directly due to water loss through perspiration and that as soon as you re-hydrate the weight is immediately put back on.

It is also fair to say that both sides of this argument make a good case. In all honesty, though, without clinical proof (which is lacking at present) it is impossible to argue the case conclusively either way.

One thing that is certain is that calories are burned during an infrared sauna session. This is known because of the production of sweat burns calories by definition. And it is known that burning calories does lead to weight loss if those calories are not replaced. So whilst it’s impossible to be abso9lutely certain, there may well be weight loss benefits to be enjoyed with regular use of weight loss infrared saunas.

Cardiovascular Benefits of Infrared Saunas

It is now understood how important cardiovascular exercise is to maintaining a healthy body. This is because hard exercise gets the blood pumping and flowing right throughout the body and even to your bodies extremitites. This is known to aid your health because it helps maintain a healthy and vibrant circulation.

This in turn ensures all parts of your body get the maximum amount of fuel and oxygen and that waste products are removed more effectively. This generally makes your body run more efficiently.

The reason I say this is that 30 minutes in an infrared sauna has the same effect on the body as running two miles at a fairly brisk pace…of course without all the inherent pain and effort that goes with it. Now, please don’t think I am advocating an infrared sauna as a replacement for proper exercise, I am not. What I am suggesting is that using an infrared sauna in a complementary fashion will aid your overall wellbeing.

With such a wealth of great health benefits of Infrared Saunas there really is a compelling case for buying an infrared sauna, especially as the prices are so attractive at the moment. Please feel free to check out some of the reviews on the site and do let us know what you decide. But…I genuinely believe a home infrared sauna will provide great benefits that make you feel better in yourself.
